Blood biopsy, unlike a traditional tissue biopsy, is performed only by taking a simple sample of venous blood. It is considered the easiest and fastest way to detect possible malignant processes in the body. It is performed using the CTC (circulating tumor cells) method and is based on the fact that even tiny tumors emit cells into the blood. The presence of these cells can be detected through the blood biopsy and they carry a variety of information about the type of cancer and its location in the body. CTC detection technology virtually eliminates the risk of false positives among individuals who do not have cancer. However, when positive, blood biopsy results are extremely important for early detection of the disease.
